Comments about 'Dawn (acoustic)':

"I have tried with this acoustic version to write less 'literal', concentrating less on storytelling and trying more to render images through the text."
- Casey Contagious

"Dawn had been a work in progress for some time. It is the second installment to the Fallen trilogy. I came up with the idea of writing a three-part trilogy while listening to the Beatles. (Thank you Casey for getting me into them) I brought this musical idea I had come up with to Casey during a snow storm while writing material for 'diminished'. Everything just seemed to come together musically and lyrically. The electric dawn spawned from acoustic Dawn. While finishing writing material for helps me remember, a discussion ensued of which Dawn to put on the album. Being 7minds, no one could agree so both made the final cut, which I think musically was a great idea."
- Jon Kulhawy

Comments about 'static':

"Arto and I are still fighting over who wrote the music to the chorus. (It was me.) When I listen to this song, the repeating horn line at the end embeds itself in my brain for days. You'll catch me whistling it the next afternoon. Dave wrote that horn line. Thanks Dave... Honestly, what a great way to end an album!"
- Eric Hemion

"The name was derived from the 'static' mood of the song, specifically the way the guitar parts were written and even more so in the horns at the end- which is why we choose to put this song last on the album. It kind of puts me in a trace when I listen to it. As an after-thought during the post production, we decided to begin the first few seconds of the CD with the last section of this song as a way of tying everything together."
- Buzz

"Written about the growing discontent Anthony had with the 7minds project, and the tension it caused. He wanted to be more of a front man and that didn't fit in the grand scheme of things. It's always a compromise when dealing with so many people. He just didn't want to continue to dilute some of his ideas to please the rest of us. We new he wanted to leave but it's hard kicking a friend out. He left though.... and now we're stuck with Jay (hahaha)."
- Dave Pritchard

About the CD 'helps me remember':

"I don't understand this album. I surely cannot make any sense of it. It does not meet any semblance of what I envisioned as a goal or imagined as an expectation. This album was a road trip full of personality and experience. As a band we might have originally set our sights on sunny California or windy Chicago and hopped in a van in an effort to achieve that particular realization or attainment, like there was a set destination. But, instead, we hopped in the van and ended up in Anchorage, Alaska, confused, weary, disoriented but at the same time wrapped in the beauty of our unexpected environment, one far removed from any pre conceived notion or image. This kind of environment the imagination thrives on because it was never imagined. We made plenty of wrong turns on this album and I loved them all because they brought us here, where ever this is, and I love the album because of it.

On this album, as a bass player, I focused primarily as functioning like a high quality, comfortable condom does; though maybe unnoticed during the intense encounter, I am continually protecting and guarding the foundation throughout it, while only ocasionally arresting one's attention, when the appropriate mood dictates that is, with ornamentation similar to studs, ribs, and extended pleasure lubricants."
- Jason Jaksetic

"This album is a seamless journey through an array of emotions and lyrical imagery derived from personal experience."
- Buzz

"Its emotional depth far surpasses that of any of our previous work. Sonically this album is my favorite of ours because I think it is the most mature. Each song stands on its own, but they all work together so well because of choices we made in the writing and recording process in terms of sound. One of the sonic aspects that I love about the album is our approach to writing and recording the horns, which was totally different from our earlier work. You'll notice the difference in the sound of the horns the second you hear them because of the way they were recorded. In terms of composition, I think we spent more time writing horns to compliment our songs, whereas, in the past, we have commonly fashioned songs around horn sections. Overall, I would say that this is the kind of album one should drink."
- Eric Hemion

"The lyrical content reflects a year that can easily be described as tumultuous. As usual, most of the inspiration is based on actual experience. I believe that stories or experiences are best told first hand. However, I have tried more on this album to write less "literal", concentrating less on storytelling and trying more to render images through the text"
- Casey Contagious

9. Dawn (acoustic)

Silver-ringed teardrops left to wear
Precious thing, torn apart to share
Silence beneath the clouds
One word spoken aloud...

And she comes to me after the heaven's rain
Silent Dawn with purple cellophane

Eyes turned away from brightening skies
Burning from fire lost inside
Changing from blue to green and brown.
Three colors wash away and drown

And she comes to me after the heaven's rain
Silent Dawn with purple cellophane

I alone love you Dawn

Please understand...

10. static

Look behind me...
see what's real
Your eyes fall short again...
of me

Trapped inside a cage...
of flesh and steel
I long to feel the edge...
under my feet again

I can be without them why can't you
Never asked to be in my world
Never asked to be in my

Eyes stare blind...
at concrete skies
Innocence now gone...
through compromise

Voice choked out...
foe and friend
I scream but am not heard...
I breathe again
